Southern Aluminum Foundry & Machine (SAF) has been a trusted provider of high-quality aluminum castings and machining solutions since 1965. Operating from state-of-the-art facilities in Clinton, SC, SAF specializes in sand and permanent mold casting, CNC machining, and advanced manufacturing.
Founded by C.O. Freeman, Southern Aluminum Foundry & Machine (SAF) began as a small, part-time operation in Greenville, South Carolina, producing aluminum castings to meet local demand. Over the years, a steadfast commitment to quality and precision transformed SAF into a thriving family-owned enterprise. Today, it operates from two facilities in Laurens and Clinton, South Carolina, spanning over 80,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
In 2023, SAF joined the CaneKast family, an industry leader celebrated for its innovative casting solutions and dedication to excellence. Under the visionary leadership of Reg Zeller, CaneKast brings a wealth of expertise and resources to drive growth and solidify SAF’s position in the market. Together, we are enhancing capabilities, embracing cutting-edge technologies, and building on the legacy of quality and reliability that has defined SAF for decades.

Facilities & Equipment
Our Clinton, South Carolina foundry at 385 Torrington Road is our corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing hub. Designed to meet the highest standards, the facility has advanced CNC lathes, vertical milling machines, and certified furnaces, ensuring your projects benefit from the latest manufacturing technology.
In 2024, CaneKast introduced the DISA MATCH 24/28, a revolutionary machine designed for precision aluminum casting that operates at ten times the speed of traditional methods. This innovative technology ensures faster production, superior quality, and shorter lead times, making SAF a leader in high-volume aluminum casting solutions.
